Verona Police Blotter
The following reports are from the Verona Police Dept. The arrests do not necessarily indicate a conviction.

On Friday, Feb. 10
- At 5:15, Office Dave Wardrope responded to a home on Claremont Avenue after receiving a report about a rabbit stuck in a fence. The officer was able to cut the fence and free the rabbit.
- At 5:47 p.m., a woman living on Orchard Street reported a theft to Officer Page Parsels. The woman said FedEx had delivered a package to her home but she had never received it.
- At 6:26 p.m., a woman reported to Officer Dave Wardrobe that someone had tried using her credit card without permission. The woman said Bank of America contacted her about an attempted charge on her credit card. However, the charge was declined by the bank and the card canceled.
On Saturday, Feb. 11
- A man reported that his car was damaged in the parking lot of Verona High School while he was attending a wrestling match. The report came in at 3:01 p.m. and was taken by Officer Page Parsels.

- A man reported to Officer Mike Barone that his iPhone had been stolen in New York City but that he'd tracked it to a business located on Pompton Avenue. Officer Barone arrived at the business at 11:40 p.m. to assist the man with the stolen phone, however the man and the officer were unable to locate the phone.
On Monday, Feb. 13
- A woman living on Franklin Street contacted the police at 2:47 p.m. and reported fraudulent activity on her credit card. She said money was transferred without her permission from her savings account to her checking account and that someone had obtained a replacement debit card for her account and used it at a Verona business.She said she responded to an email several months ago that she believed was from her bank and gave personal informataion in the email. Officer Mike Barone took the report.
On Wednesday, Feb. 15

- A woman living on Linn Drive reported an incident of harassment to Officer William Frazee at 12:21 p.m. that she heard her neighbors making threatening comments towards her after the police had been at the neighbors' apartment regarding a noise complaint.
- A Fairview Avenue resident reported a fraud to Officer Page Parsels around 4:07 p.m. The woman said she was hired to be a "Mystery Research Shopper" and was asked to evaluate her experience as a Western Union customer. The woman received a money order, was told to cash it and keep some of the money, then forward the remaining money to another person. The woman said she grew suspicious when she tried to contact the company representative and the representative refused to give her any additional information about her job or the company.
- Officers Wardrope and Banta arrested William Errico Jr. of Verona at 10:13 p.m. on an arrest warrant for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. While being processed, Errico asked to speak with a detective about a robbery that had occurred earlier in the week. Detective Sgt. Greco spoke with Errico, who provided details and a written statement about his involvement with the robbery.
On Thursday, Feb. 16
- At 9:09 a.m., Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report from a Hamilton Road man who reported that a credit card had been opened in his son's name and that over $1,100 had been charged to the account. The man was given an Identity Theft pamphlet and advised to review all of his finances.
- The Verona Rescue Squad and Officer Joseph Ballantyne arrived at Platinum Fitness on Pompton Ave. at 2:02 p.m. in response to a report of a person with a laceration. The person was taken to Mountainside Hospital.
