Newark Driver Issued Summonses After Accident

The following information has been provided by the Verona Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 2: Verona police received a report of animal cruelty when a resident walking their dog on Sylvan Road, near Valhalla Way said they were unsure if the dog drank an unknown liquid from a dish left on a the curb.

March 2: Verona police report food was intentionally left at the curb on Sylvan Road at 4:49 p.m. The resident at the address said they were not responsible.

March 3: A driver with a provisional license was issued several summonses following a car accident at the intersection of Pompton and Bloomfield avenues, Verona police reported.

Following the accident, officers discovered Davaughn Brockett of Newark behind Hardbodyz Fitness.

Brockett was issued summonses for underage possession of alcohol, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and violation of a provisional driver’s license. 

One of the cars involved in the accident was abandoned in the Exxon gas station.

After a search, police found Davaughn Brockett of Newark behind Hardbodyz Fitness. 

Beckett was treated by Verona rescue squad and transported to Mountainside Hospital.

March 3: Police were called to Verona Chinese Kitchen on Bloomfield Avenue for a burglary at 7:40 a.m. The front door was smashed and several hundred dollars were reported stolen.

March 3:
 Verona police and rescue squad responded to a person who fell and sustained an ankle injury on Wedgewood Drive. The injured person was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

March 3: A resident on Valhalla Way reported someone moved around several items in the yard of their house. There was no reported damage.

March 5: A resident of Forest Avenue reported someone stole some jewelry from the home. The resident said contractors working at his home several weeks ago left the door unlocked and about $3,100 in jewelry was missing.

March 5: The Verona Police and Fire Department responded to a fire in the basement of a house on Durrell Street at 5:05 p.m. When officials arrived, black smoke was visible from the home. The fire was extinguished. The incident remains under investigation.

March 5: Verona police are investigating the theft of some tools from a parked van on Montrose Avenue. The value of the tools is unknown.

March 7: Verona police were called to Morristown police station at 4:25 p.m. to pick up Jose Torres, of Verona, for outstanding warrants.

March 7: Verona police responded to an argument between a motorist and pedestrian on Bloomfield Avenue at 8:59 p.m. The pedestrian said the driver drove up on the sidewalk and started to yell at him. The motorist denies driving on the sidewalk.
