A rental car employee allegedly grabbed a customer's cell phone and threw it into a parking lot during a heated confrontation, Verona police

Verona, NJ – A rental car employee allegedly grabbed a customer’s cell phone and threw it into a nearby parking lot during a heated confrontation earlier this month, police say.

According to the Verona Police Department, a customer at a Bloomfield Avenue business reported that a store employee refused to rent her a car around 6:49 p.m. on June 3.

The customer told police that when she began to film the encounter, the store employee took her phone and threw it into the parking lot, authorities say.

However, the store employee told police that she felt threatened by the customer and threw the phone in an attempt to get her to leave.

Police advised both women about complaint procedures and advised the customer to not return to the property.
