Verona Schools Must Take Back Vacation Day Due To Snowstorms

VERONA, NJ — Did you have plans for Friday, April 6? If you have a student in the Verona Public School District, you may want to reschedule.
Verona school administrators announced this week that the district has exceeded its allotted snow days. As a result, April 6 – which was originally part of the spring break vacation - is now a full day of school.
According to a township advisory:

“The Verona Public Schools allots three snow days to the school calendar each year. The school calendar, developed by committee and approved by the Board of Education, outlines the plan for adding days to spring break, if necessary. The district has added Friday, April 6, 2018 as a full day of school as a result of exceeding the allotted number of snow days.”

- “That's nice. We already booked our vacation so we will be out of town. Can't just add a school day and think people haven't made plans. It's also still Passover. Can't just ignore that.”
- “Feel sorry for the teachers because obviously all those that made plans won’t be sending their children. The teachers will be sitting in empty classrooms.”
