In Verona: Vietnam Vets Donation Stolen / Loud Music Leads To DWI / Missing Louis Vuitton Bag / Identity Theft
Police Blotter: Aug. 7 to 13

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Verona police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
8/7/2015
5:17 PM - Officer Chris Scheper conducted a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue after a random MDT check revealed a warrant for the vehicle owner. The operator’s license was checked and a warrant was confirmed from the Springfield Municipal Court. The operator, Laura Fuenzalida of Summit, was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. After processing she posted bail and was released.

8/8/2015
10:22 AM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of a lost wallet from a Cresthill Road resident. The resident reported the wallet contained her NJ driver’s license, credit card and a small amount of cash. She was advised to contact her credit card company and NJ Division of Motor Vehicles.

8/9/2015
2:02 AM - Sgt. Robert Shafer responded to the area of Green Acres on a report of loud music from a vehicle. The officer located the vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle the officer could detect on odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was asked to perform field sobriety tests. After the tests the operator, Melissa Morvey of West Caldwell was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was then released to a family member.
4:32 AM - Officer Scheper took a report of criminal mischief from a Bloomfield resident. The resident reported his vehicle was damaged while it was parked on Bloomfield Avenue. A scratch was observed on the driver’s side of the vehicle and several nicks on the passenger side. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
1:12 PM - Officer Erin McGarrity took a report of a larceny from a Lakeview Place resident. The resident reported he left his backpack outside his door for a short time and when he returned the backpack was missing. Value of the missing items is approximately $160.
1:31 PM - Officer Frazee took a report of a larceny from a Bloomfield Avenue resident. The resident reported a Louis Vuitton bag missing from the closet in her apartment. Value of the bag is approximately $1,500.
6:41 PM - Officer Steve Young took a report of a Larceny from a Hillside Avenue resident. The resident reported that she had placed several bags of household goods on the porch to be picked up by the Vietnam Veterans. She then discovered that the bags had been taken by someone else. Value of the missing items is approximately $1,700.
7:46 PM - Officer Robert Juliano took a report of a fraud from a Cumberland Avenue resident. The resident reported that there were several unauthorized transactions on his debit account. He was in contact with his bank to close the account. He was provided with identity theft information.
8/10/2015
1:46 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of fraud from a Brookdale Avenue resident. The resident reported that her bank account was accessed and numerous purchases were made in Florida. She was provided with identity theft information.
8/11/2015
1 PM - Officer Frazee took a report of fraud from a Morningside Road resident. The resident reported that he received a letter from the IRS indicating that more than one tax return had been filed with his social security number. He has been in contact with the IRS and Social Security. He was provided with identity theft information.
2:42 PM - Officer Frazee took a report of found keys on Park Avenue.
3:21 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of property damage from a Bloomfield Avenue business. The property owner reported several windows on the building had been broken. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
7:21 PM - Officer Steve Young responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a person who had fallen on Fairview Avenue. After evaluation by the rescue squad the victim refused transportation to the hospital.
8/12/2015
1:07 PM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of property damage from a Bloomfield resident. The resident reported his car window was broken while the vehicle was parked in Verona. A video in the area showed a rock kicking up from a lawnmower and breaking the window. Value of the damage is approximately $200.
8/13/2015
1:05 PM - Officer Erin McGarrity took a report of a fraud from a White Rock Road resident. The resident reported unauthorized charges on her credit card. She canceled the card and was provided with identity theft information.
1:52 PM - Officer Lecreux took a report of a fraud from a South Prospect Street resident. The resident reported that her credit monitoring service notified her of two accounts opened in her name. Both accounts were closed by the companies and she was advised to monitor her credit report.
9:42 PM - Officer Robert Juliano and Mike Barone responded to Montville Police Department to take custody of Steven Salerno of Caldwell on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after posting bail.
