Verona Woman Owed $16K In Tolls: Port Authority
Police said the vehicle's owner owed more than $16,000 on their EZ Pass account.
VERONA, NJ — Port Authority police arrested a Verona woman earlier this month after learning that she allegedly owed more than $16,000 on her EZ Pass account, authorities say.
According to the Port Authority of NY/NJ, officers witnessed Denise Simien, 55, drive her 2007 Toyota SUV near the Holland Tunnel on July 13. After reportedly ignoring the officer’s instructions to stop, Simien was pulled over by another Port Authority officer near the tunnel entrance after allegedly passing through the toll without paying.
Police later discovered that the owner of the vehicle failed to pay EZ Pass tolls at Port Authority crossings over 250 times with a total amount owed of $16,633, authorities said.
