19th Century Barn Dance - The Historic Village @ Allaire - Saturday, August 6, 2016

Old fashioned family fun at the Historic Village of Allaire. www.allairevillage.org or 732-919-3500

This is a brand new event for the Historic Village at Allaire! Come join us for an evening of music and dancing on the village green. This is truly an event not to be missed!

The Historic Village cordially welcomes our special guests, Atwater and Donnelly, who will perform for this event. The nationally renowned musician couple will be bringing their Traditional American, Celtic, and Folk Music, dancing and calling, to our historic 19th century ironworks! Starting at 4:00pm, they will be giving a 90 minute concert on the front lawn of James P. Allaire’s historic summer home. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to bring camp chairs and blankets to relax on. Afterward, there will be a break to explore the village and enjoy food from various venders before the main dance event!

Never been to a 19th century barn dance before? No dancing experience is needed! Elwood from Atwater and Donnelly will be teaching and calling the dance steps, guiding everyone through the evening. The live string band will be performing traditional tunes while we dance by star and candle light! Come be a part of the celebration with our costumed villagers and volunteers as they lay aside their working lives for an evening of music, period dancing, heritage, and comradery!
