Today in New Jersey history:
June 24, 1776: A committee of ten members of the Provincial Congress was appointed to draw up a state constitution.
June 24, 1889: Frankie Burns was born in Jersey City. Burns would fight for the Bantamweight World Title twice, once to a draw and then for a loss. He won ninety-nine fights in his career. Burns died in 1961 and was posthumously inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame in 1969.
