OCEAN GROVE, NJ — Mary's Place by the Sea, a New Jersey nonprofit organization that offers wellness retreats and services for women with cancer, raised a record $160,000 at its 6th Annual Swing for the Soul Golf Outing, the organization recently announced.
The sold-out event took place on June 29 at the Deal Golf & Country Club in Deal and drew ~140 golfers.
Proceeds from the yearly outing support Mary's Place by the Sea's mission to help women with cancer heal in mind, body and soul through wellness retreats and integrative virtual services offered free of charge.
Since opening its doors, the organization has welcomed over 17,000 women, providing overnight and day retreats, support groups, counseling and a full slate of virtual services available to women impacted by cancer anywhere in the U.S.
"Every dollar raised on the golf course provides an opportunity for a guest of Mary's Place to step away from her scheduled life and enjoy holistic services, plant-based meals and authentic connection to others on a similar path," said Michele Gannon, Founder and Executive Director, Mary's Place by the Sea.
"Our guests never see a bill, and that's only possible because of days like this," Gannon continued. "We are grateful to every golfer, sponsor and volunteer who showed up for our mission, and an incredible community that came together in support of Mary's Place by the Sea and the women we are privileged to serve."
The tournament began with check-in and a lunch buffet, followed by a shotgun start.
Golfers returned to the clubhouse after time on the course for a cocktail hour, dinner reception and silent auction.
The evening featured a testimonial from a former Mary's Place by the Sea guest, and in a special presentation, the Mary's Place by the Sea team provided the final mortgage payment on its custom home at 22 Main Ave. to OceanFirst Bank.
This aimed to serve as a milestone reminder of what can be accomplished through the power of a caring community, officials said.
This year's outing was made possible by Presenting Sponsor Chris Tubby Deborah Wilson Charitable Giving Fund.
Halfway House Sponsors included the William Noonan Foundation, Manasquan Bank, Builders General Supply Company, and Dawn and Monte Edwards.
Jones & Associates was the Driving Range Sponsor. Putting Green Sponsors were The Codispoti Foundation, The Plastic Surgery Center, Jaeger Lumber, and Cira Nickerson and Kim Clark.
Cocktail Sponsors were Smallwood Wealth Management, Donato Hayes & Co., Stad's Crabfest, the Gary Messina Family Foundation, and Steven and Bernadette Seneca.
