An Explorer's Last Day.

Today in New Jersey history:

April 27, 1813 New Jersey born Zebulon Pike, noted explorer and army officer who recruited the Fifteenth US Infantry in New Jersey for the war of 1812 and was promoted to brigadier general in March 1813, lost his life following the capture of York, Canada, when a powder magazine exploded as he sat atop it.
