Today in New Jersey history: April 26,1946:   African-American George Ashby, a sergeant in the Forty-fifth United States Colored Infantry during the Civil War, died at his home in Allentown at the age of 102.  Ashby was the last surviving New Jersey Civil War veteran.   April 26, 1979:  Genovese crime family figure Anthony "Little Pussy" Russo was shot to death by fellow Genovese mob members in Long Branch while on an Easter furlough from prison.
