Atlantic City in WWII

A lot of people today do not know that Atlantic City played a major part of the American WWII effort. It not only served as an R&R resort for Army Air Force crews returning from overseas, but was also an AAF Technical Command Basic Training site. In this picture, from June, 1943, we see soldiers in training practicing evacuating a troop ship via cargo nets into a swimming pool at one of the resort hotels used as barracks.
