Hazing Scandal Response: Wall Staff Paid To Monitor Locker Rooms
Staff members of Wall High School will be paid $25 per hour to open and close all locker rooms.
WALL, NJ — Following the hazing scandal involving the Wall High School football team, the school district announced a plan to pay Wall High School staff members $25 per hour to supervise school locker rooms.
The agreement was reached between the Wall Township Board of Education and the Wall Township Education Association, and it was approved at the Feb. 16 BOE meeting.
According to the agreement, staff members at Wall High School will be paid $25 per hour to open and close all school locker rooms twice each day and supervise them until coaches arrive. It states that two district employees will be in charge of unlocking the locker rooms at 7:00 a.m. and supervising them until 7:30 a.m.

The agreement also adds that in the afternoon between the hours of 2:02 p.m. and 2:32 p.m. four staff members will be needed to unlock those rooms along with two other “team rooms” used for after-school athletics.
The agreement is set to expire in June, but the anticipated new contract, which is currently being negotiated, will most likely extend through 2025.

This new plan is the district's response to the investigation into the football team in relation to several alleged hazing incidents that occurred in September and October. The investigation resulted in the suspension of seven students and the dismissal of several coaches and the athletic director.
