'Lock Your Cars' Reminder In Wall As Thefts Surge

Wall police say car thefts in Monmouth County are on the rise.

WALL, NJ — Do you lock your car every time you leave it unattended? Even in your driveway? Wall Township police say you need to do it. Starting immediately.

Thefts of vehicles — especially expensive vehicles using key fobs — have been increasing in Monmouth County. Police said thefts involving vehicles that use key fobs, where the fobs are left in unlocked vehicles, have been particularly targeted.

So police posted a warning on the department's Facebook page Tuesday warning

It also included a reminder that if you must leave valuables in your vehicle, store them in the trunk or at the very least out of plain sight.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police department at 732-449-4500.
