Lynette Whiteman of Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey Receives Leader of Distinction Award

Toms River, NJ (September 20, 2017)- Lynette Whiteman, Executive Director of Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ) will receive the Leader of Distinction Award in the Field of Aging from the Social Community Activities Network (SCAN).

The award celebrates the contributions made by exceptional community leaders to New Jersey’s aging adult population and will be presented at SCAN’s Annual Awards Luncheon on Tues, Oct. 17th at Seabrook in Tinton Falls.

According to Pat Bohse, SCAN Executive Director, “Under Lynette Whiteman’s outstanding leadership, Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey has evolved to support a rapidly growing population of seniors, individuals with dementia and family caregivers. By providing vital services, such as transportation to medical appointments and friendly visits, CVCJ allows vulnerable residents to remain independent in their own homes.”

ABOUT CAREGIVER VOLUNTEERS OF CENTRAL JERSEY (CVCJ)

Lynette Whiteman has been with CVCJ since 2002, and became Executive Director in 2007. CVCJ provides vital assistance to seniors, the elderly disabled, veterans, and caregivers of loved ones with chronic illness or dementia so they can continue living independently in their own homes. All services are free of charge and delivered by 1,200 volunteers to over 2,500 Ocean and Monmouth County residents over the age of 60, who no longer drive. Volunteers provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, reassuring phone calls, friendly visits, and relief for family caregivers. The Caregiver Canines® program brings certified therapy dogs to the homes of dog-loving seniors who can no longer care for a pet.
