Medical Resident Knits 50 Baby Sweaters for Patients in Need
Physician gives back to the community with handmade sweaters for babies.

Kelly Bowen, D.O., senior Ob/Gyn resident at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center, knitted 50 baby sweaters for families in need who are treated at the Family Health Center in Neptune. Overall, it took her less than a year in between other projects and they range from newborn sizes up to a couple of months old.
“All of the yarn was donated or came from my collection and I even got my grandpa to make the wood buttons,” says Dr. Bowen. “It was a fun project for me and I can’t wait to give these to our little patients!”
"I was inspired to do it because I like to knit, the sweaters are small projects that I can do quickly, and this was a nice way to use my skills to show our patients that we care about them," says Dr. Bowen.
