Nazis in New Jersey

Nazis in New Jersey? You betcha, at least back in the 1930s. The area most associated with German-American friends of the Reich is Camp Nordland, in Sussex county, but there was also Camp Bergwald, atop Federal Hill in Bloomingdale Borough. With the advent of WWII, activities went into low gear at Bergwald, and the sponsoring German-American Vocational League was disbanded. FBI agents and state police raided Bergwald in July 1942 and arrested several people. They carried off a lot of material from the camp, including pictures. This is a press photo copy of one of the photoes found at the camp. Actual date is unknown, but most likely pre-1941.
