The orange signs are down, the detours have been nullified and a new swath of blacktop has been smoothed over the small bridge on New Bedford road following a two-day closure.
The bridge, which spans a tributary of nearby Osborne Pond, near Mill Pond Court, re-opened Thursday after crews mended the span when a support snapped on Monday, causing the closure of a portion of New Bedford Road.
Crews began working earlier this week to repair a failure of the bridge’s timber deck, which was noticed Monday morning. Township police around 10 a.m. Monday investigated reports of a sinking of a portion of New Bedford Road just north of Allaire Road, and found that a support under the bridge had snapped, Sgt. Chad Clark has said.

The Monmouth County Department of Public Works closed off that section of New Bedford from Allaire Road to Mill Pond Court for the duration of the repair.
The cause of the failure was uncertain late Thursday. County spokesman Bill Heine did not return a call requesting comment.
