New Businesses May Be Allowed In Town

The Township Committee is set to allow businesses that install solar panels into town.

The committee, at its workshop meeting Wednesday, agreed to place on next week's agenda an ordinance that would allow those types of businesses into a zone where they are currently barred.

"What it will do is allow, as a conditional use, in the office research zone, solar installers to be a permitted use under certain conditions,'' Township Administrator Joe Verruni said.

The office research zoning designation is mainly along Route 34, with some also along Atlantic Avenue, according to the town's zoning map.

The ordinance is scheduled for introduction at the committee's next meeting on June 8.
