Police Chief Named, Officer Promotions Made In Wall
Lt. Sean O'Halleran is the new chief of the Wall Township Police Department, replacing Chief Kenneth Brown Jr., who retired as of August.

WALL, NJ — Two retirements of long-serving leaders in the Wall Township Police Department have prompted several changes of rank, including naming Lt. Sean O’Halloran as chief of police.
Chief Kenneth Brown Jr. retired effective Aug. 1 after 25 years of service, including five as chief. And Capt. Greg Carpino also retired, having served over 25 years, the department said.
The 66-person police force has moved up its existing members into the new ranks, and has recently filled new patrol positions to keep the force at full strength, said Capt. Chad Clark, now also responsible for public information for the department.

The Township Committee had a widely attended meeting Sept. 28, with local and county officials, and police chiefs and retired chiefs in attendance, as well as families of the officers and the public.
To applause, Brown accepted the gift of a watch and thanked the town, his family and his staff for an "unbelievable career." He noted the countless hours his force has put in and its support for him. And he congratulated those being sworn in to the new positions.

O'Halloran, who grew up in Wall, said "I love Wall Township." He was "humbled and honored" he said, to be named to the position of chief, and he recognized many figures in law enforcement who mentored him along the way in Wall and elsewhere. And he said he would build upon his predecessor's work and support his staff in excellence and in encouraging a family like environment.
The department identified all those in the new positions and provided background on the officers, showing all have served many years on the force - and some have many family connections to policing in Wall and elsewhere. The Township Committee approved salaries for the new positions effective Sept. 29 and all the officers were sworn in Sept. 28:
