NJ Man Stabbed With Kitchen Knife, Police Say

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at a home in Brielle, police said.

BRIELLE, NJ — A New Jersey man is reported to be in stable condition after he was stabbed on Tuesday morning, Brielle Police said.

At 8:51 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to 606 Rankin Road for a report of a person who had been stabbed with a kitchen knife.

Once officers arrived, they found the victim, Joseph Kerrigan, 62, of Brielle, suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.

Police then secured the location and took the accused, identified as Kendra Angell, 21, of Glen Gardner, into custody without further incident.

Angell was brought to Brielle Police Headquarters, where she was processed and later brought to a medical facility for treatment.

Brielle EMS and Advanced Life Support also responded to the scene, rendered care and brought the victim to Jersey Shore University Medical Center , where he underwent emergency treatment and is now reported to be in stable condition.

Angell was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with extreme indifference to the value of human life, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and endangering another person, police said.

She is currently being held pending a detention hearing before a judge.

Investigation into the incident remains active and is being conducted by Brielle Police.

Additional information may be released if appropriate, and as the investigation permits, police said.

"The Brielle Police Department would like to acknowledge the great work and professionalism of all of our officers, as well as extend our gratitude to Brielle EMS and medical personnel for their prompt response and assistance," the department said in an online post.
