Acme Explosion Reports Debunked By Wall Police
Following social media reports of an explosion on Wednesday evening, authorities are clarifying what happened at the store.

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — There was no explosion at a local Acme on Wednesday evening, despite misinformation shared by some social media accounts, Wall Township Police said.
At 5:51 p.m. on Wednesday, Wall Police Lt. Steven Nash said police responded to an issue at the Acme located at 2007 Route 35 in Wall Township.
According to Nash, there was an electrical issue on a display unit inside the front doors of the store.

There was a puff of smoke and an electrical burning smell, but no explosion, Nash told Patch. The issue was immediately resolved by unplugging the unit.
Wall Township Fire District 1 responded to the incident and determined that the issue was the compressor motor, Nash said. No injuries were reported.
