Pair Indicted In Fatal Shooting Of 2 Teens In Neptune

Gabriel J. Braithwaite, of Keansburg and Jeron D. Dearin, of Aberdeen, were charged in connection with the deaths of two teenagers.

NEPTUNE, NJ — Two Bayshore men were charged in connection with a double homicide that took place in Neptune Township earlier this year, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Thursday.

Gabriel J. Braithwaite, 19, of Keansburg, and Jeron D. Dearin, 22, of Aberdeen, were both charged with two counts of first-degree murder and single counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, two related second-degree weapons offenses, and third-degree hindering apprehension in connection with the deaths of Samore Edwards, 18, of Plainfield, and Isaiah Williams, 19, of New Brunswick.

On Jan. 19, around 8:15 p.m., Neptune Township police responded to the 1300 block of Washington Avenue for a report of a shooting. Officers discovered the two victims in a parked vehicle; Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene, while Williams was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and died shortly after arrival, Linskey said.

An investigation resulted in Braithwaite and Dearin being identified as suspects in the case, and they were taken into custody without incident in early February, police said.

If convicted of the charges leveled against them, both Braithwaite and Dearin face life in prison, Linskey said.
