Stolen Vehicle Crashes Into Pole In Wall, 5 Juveniles Apprehended

A vehicle stolen out of Union County crashed into a telephone pole on Allaire Road early Thursday morning, authorities said.

WALL, NJ - A motor vehicle stolen out of New Providence crashed into a telephone pole in Wall Township early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department had previously attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop on a 2017 Audi at around 1:15 a.m., police said. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Union County. Wall Township Police Department patrol units soon after observed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Allaire Road in the area of Bailey’s Corner Road at a high rate of speed, according to a statement from police.

Officers from the Wall Township Police Department located the Audi after it crashed into a pole at the intersection of Allaire Road and New Bedford Road, police said.

Five juvenile occupants were observed fleeing from the vehicle on foot following police response. All five subjects hailed from Newark and were apprehended a short distance from the crash scene.

The juveniles were charged with receiving stolen property, joyriding, obstructing the administration of justice and multiple motor vehicle summonses, police said.

“The Monmouth County area has seen an increase in motor vehicle thefts as of recently,” Wall police wrote in a statement. “Wall Township residents are reminded to remove the keys from their vehicles along with all personal [items] and lock their doors to their vehicles.”
