Train Derailment Under Investigation In Farmingdale: Police

The freight train was carrying wood and ethanol, New Jersey State Police said.

WALL, NJ — A freight train derailment at Railroad Avenue and Central Avenue in Farmingdale Thursday night is under investigation, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The train was carrying wood and ethanol and there are no reported injuries, said State Police Trooper, Brandi Slota.

State troopers responded to the scene at Railroad and Central avenues in the borough at 8:27 p.m, Slota said.

The cause of the derailment is being investigated by police, and Monmouth County Hazmat assessed the cargo and determined it to be safe. Central Avenue is currently being rerouted, Slota said.
