Tree Branch Falls Onto NJ Police Car: See The Video

SEA GIRT, NJ — Police footage has captured the moment a tree branch crashed onto a Sea Girt police vehicle over the Fourth of July weekend.

The incident happened on Friday as the police officer was traveling on Washington Boulevard and Fifth Avenue.

In the video, you can see the moment the branch comes crashing down onto the windshield and where the officer stops and gets out of the car.

"I just had a large branch fall on my vehicle," the officer can be heard telling the dispatcher. "Washington and Fifth...Can you start heading out here?"

The officer went on to tell the dispatcher that DPW (the Department of Public Works) would definitely be needed, and that he was not injured.

The crash occurred during the start of what would become a tumultuous holiday weekend.

Record high temperatures and heavy rain brought crashes, building damage, flooding and more to New Jersey, particularly along the Jersey Shore.

In some parts of Monmouth County, as much as 5.65 inches of rain fell in the span of 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service.
