Ranney sophomore Nicole Vaiani of Wall Township won gold at the NJSIAA State Foil Fencing Championship in early March on the same day her brother, John also excelled, marking the first time in tournament history that siblings have won state championships at the same event and in the same year, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.
