Victims Beaten With Mallet In Wall Home Invasion; 6 Men Charged

WALL, NJ — Six people have been arrested in connection with a January home invasion robbery in Wall Township where two people were beaten and a third was threatened at gunpoint, Wall Township police said Thursday.

Conrado Hernandez-Garcia, 21, of Neptune City; Kevin Y. Cruz-Ramirez, 18, of Neptune; and Shakim I. Miller, 20, Joi I. James, 19, Kahj C. Jones, 21, and Ernest L. Jones, 26, all of Asbury Park, were arrested from Jan. 27 to Feb. 5, Wall Capt. Greg Carpino said. The investigation is active but police believe it is an isolated incident.

On Jan. 21, police answered a 911 call just before 2 p.m. reporting the home invasion robbery, Carpino said. They found three victims, two of whom were injured.

The victims told police people had broken into the home and confronted them. The victims did not know the attackers, Carpino said.

The attackers tried to take their property, and one of the attackers hit two of the victims several times with a mallet, he said. Two of the attackers repeatedly beat all three victims, and one of the attackers pointed a firearm at the victims before fleeing, he said.

One of the victims sought medical treatment for an injury that was not life-threatening injury, Carpino said, and was treated at a hospital and released the same day.

Cruz-Ramirez was arrested Jan. 27 at home. He is charged with second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree trespassing; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Hernandez-Garcia was arrested Jan. 28 near his home, Carpino said. He has been charged with second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree
aggravated assault; fourth-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault; second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault; and second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary.

Miller, James, and both Joneses were arrested Wednesday, Carpino said.

Miller is charged with first-degree robbery; second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree trespassing; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

James is charged with first-degree robbery; second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree trespassing; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Kahj Jones is charged with first-degree robbery; second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree trespassing; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Ernest Jones is charged with second-degree burglary; second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree trespassing; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Miller, Kahj Jones and Ernest Jones are being held at the Monmouth County jail in Freehold Township, according to county jail records online. James, Cruz-Ramirez and Hernandez-Garcia were taken to the county jail but were not listed in the online records as of Thursday afternoon.

Wall Township Police investigated with assistance from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Asbury Park Police Department, Neptune Township Police Department, and Neptune City Police Department.
