Feeling the loss of business from Funtown Pier on the southern end of Seaside’s boardwalk, Casino Amusements owner Linus Gilbert added attractions to surround his hand-carved carousel ( still there today) on the northern end. One tourist magnet was his 165 x 65-foot gargantuan pool that he advertised as the largest chlorinated saltwater pool in the US. He included a roller-skating rink and a ballroom for dances, etc. As he added more and more attractions the now famous Casino Pier took shape.
