Voting by Mail Option Open to All Monmouth County Registered Voters

Early voters can skip the line on Election Day and vote by mail. Voting by mail is an available option for all registered voters, said Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon.

“The right to vote is the foundation of our freedom that has been hard-fought for, by our military veterans and citizens throughout our history,” Hanlon noted. “In Monmouth County, we want to make sure that all of our citizens have the ability to vote, even if they are unable to go to the polls on Election Day.”

Any registered voter can opt for mail in votes for any reason, she added. “There is no reason to forget, get too busy or have to deal with inclement weather. And most importantly, every valid vote cast by mail will be included in the election results. Residents do not have to worry that their vote will not be counted.”

In order to vote by mail, voters must first complete a vote by mail application. This application can be obtained from the County Clerk’s webpage, or by visiting the County Clerk or the Municipal Clerk of their hometown.

Applications to vote by mail that are sent through the postal service must be received by the County Clerk’s office seven days before an election. For the Nov. 3 general election, the date is Oct. 27.

Voters may also apply in person at the County Clerk’s office up until 3 p.m. the day before the election.

“Voting has never been easier,” said Hanlon. “So vote early, vote by mail and make sure that your vote is counted.”

Simple instructions for completing and returning vote by mail ballots are included in the ballot package.
