Wall High School Scholars Named Regional Champions

Wall High School Scholars Named Regional Champions in National History Day Contest

Wall High School students Jacob Byrne, Frank Pena, Zach Andreen, Nicole Pinella, and Erin Kniffin participated in the 2018 New Jersey National History Day (NJNHD) competition held at Monmouth University on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The students were awarded regional champions in the senior group documentary category.

This year's National History Day theme was Conflict and Compromise in History. Jacob, Frank and Zach presented a documentary titled “Cold War Antics.” Erin and Nicole presented a documentary titled “Conflict at Home and Work: The Modern American Women’s Movement.”

The students worked on their National History Day projects in social studies class as part of the Project Based Learning (PBL) initiative introduced by the Supervisor of Humanities, Dr. Tracy Skinner. They worked under the direction of their teachers, Mr. Frank Harrison, Mr. Matt Kukoda and Ms. Theresa Rose.

Both groups of students will be moving on to the state competition on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. The top two entries in every category at the state/affiliate level are invited to the national contest at the University of Maryland, College Park in June 2018.
