Wall To Honor State Champion Football Teams At Thanksgiving Game

The players and coaches of the back-to-back champions in 1982/1983 and the 2002 teams will be honored.

WALL, NJ — The annual Wall-Manasquan high school football game on Thanksgiving morning will have a little extra sparkle this year, as Wall Township High School honors three past championship teams.

"We would like to acknowledge the 35th anniversary of the back-to-back state championships of 1982/83 and the 15th anniversary of the 2002 state championship," Thomas Ridoux, Wall's athletic director, said in a letter to players and coaches.

The teams will be honored at halftime of the game, which is marking its 18th meeting. Wall leads the Thanksgiving series 9-8, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Players or coaches from those state championship teams who have not RSVP'd should contact Barbara Ranaudo at 732-556-2065 by noon on Wednesday.

If you plan to go to the game, tickets can be purchased from 8 a.m. to noon at Wall Township High School on Wednesday in the main lobby of the school. Tickets are $5 each.

On Thursday, the gates will open at 9 a.m. and kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

Shuttle buses will be provided at Wall Intermediate School, at the corner of Allaire Road and Baileys Corner Road, and at Camp Evans, corner of Monmouth Boulevard and Taft Road. There is no general parking available at the high school due to parking constraints.

Only those with a state-issued handicapped parking placard will be able to park at Wall High School.

All bags brought to the game will be subject to inspection.
