Wall Student Honored As NJSIAA Scholar-Athlete
Students from around the state were honored at a luncheon and received scholarship money.

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ — A Wall Township student is among 365 student-athletes from across New Jersey honored this week at the NJSIAA's annual scholar-athlete luncheon, the organization announced.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association recognized the high school students for their achievements, awarding a total of $203,000 in college scholarships, the organization said.
Under the scholar-athlete program, each NJSIAA member school – nearly every high school in the state – has the opportunity to select one senior student as its scholar-athlete of the year. Students must be a senior who plays a NJSIAA varsity sport, possesses a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0, and exhibits outstanding school and community citizenship, the NJSIAA said.

“These student-athletes worked extremely hard in the classroom and in their respective sports to stand out from their peers,” says Steve Timko, the NJSIAA’s executive director. “This luncheon is our way of applauding their efforts and wishing them well as they begin college.”
Since 1993, the NJSIAA has honored more than 7,000 New Jersey high school students and distributed in excess of $1.5 million in college scholarships through its scholar program.
