A sailboat that got caught in power lines prompted outages during the blizzard Saturday in Belmar, Mayor Matt Doherty said.

The mayor shared this photo on Twitter, saying “JCPL removing the mast of a sailboat caught in their lines that caused power outages in Belmar. Can’t make this up.”

Photos taken by Wall Police Chief Robert Brice show the crews working on the mast.

Video (below) of the effort to remove the mast was provided by Wall Township Police Sgt. Joseph Wilbert, who praised the JCP&L crew’s work: “JCP&L continues to do an outstanding job.”
