2 Somerset County DPW Workers Hit, Hospitalized By 80-Year-Old Warren Driver
Both were Somerset County DPW employees repairing the Warren roadway when a driver hit a trailer pinning one man and hospitalizing both: PD.

WARREN, NJ — Two Somerset County DPW employees were hospitalized after they were hit by a car driven by an elderly Warren driver, authorities said.
On Monday at around 1:10 p.m., the two employees were on the eastbound side of Mount Horeb Road conducting repairs to the road surface when an 80-yea-old Warren man driving a 2016 Chrysler hit a piece of equipment in the roadway and slammed into the trailer attached to the county truck which was stopped, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
One of the injured workers, a 43-year-old Raritan man was standing on the trailer and knocked around at the time of impact. The second worker, a 30-year-old South Bound Brook man, was standing on the roadway behind the trailer and was pinned between the Chrysler and the trailer, said Robertson.

The South Bound Brook man had significant life and was medevac’d by the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit to an area trauma center where he underwent emergency surgery and is listed in stable condition.
The Raritan man was also treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to an area trauma center where he was treated and released. The Warren driver of the Chrysler was treated at the scene and taken to an area trauma center for treatment where he remains.

The crash remains under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART) along with Warren Township Police Detectives.
