At around 10:09 a.m., a fire was reported at 46 Highmount Avenue where Warren Police Officers saw smoke, said Warren Mayor Shaun Fine.

The Warren Township Fire Department arrived at 10:12 a.m., and the fire was later extinguished.

One firefighter was evaluated and treated at the scene by EMS and did not require transport to the hospital.

At around 10:20 a.m., while responding to the fire, a Washington Valley Fire Company tanker got into a single-vehicle accident on Mount Bethel Road near Central School.

The truck overturned during the response, said Fine.

Two firefighters — the driver and a passenger — were injured. One was treated at the scene, and the other was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

A heavy-duty wrecker removed the tanker, which has been taken to the Warren Township Department of Public Works yard, at 1 Bardy Road, for further inspection and evaluation.

The Warren Township Police Department Traffic Bureau is conducting a full investigation into the accident.

"Our emergency responders acted quickly and professionally under challenging circumstances this morning," said Fine. "We are thankful for their dedication and service, and we extend our best wishes to the injured firefighters for a full and speedy recovery."
