UPDATE: Attempted Luring Reported in Somerset County

"Your bus isn't here, why don't you get in my car?" said a man reportedly involved in an attempted luring of a student in Warren

Warren, NJ -- Township police are reporting an attempted luring incident in Warren this morning.

On Feb. 4 around 7:35 a.m., a 13-year-old student reported while waiting for the school bus, he was approached in his driveway by a man operating a grey-colored four-door sedan (possibly a Toyota or Nissan), Warren Police said.

“Your bus isn’t here, why don’t you get in my car?“ the man reportedly said while seated in his car.

The student ran back inside the house and the incident was reported to Warren Police.

The man involved in the attempted luring is described as a light brown skinned male in his 50’s wearing a light green colored shirt, black jacket with eyeglasses and a thin mustache.

The investigation is ongoing and police are currently in communication with school officials.

An earlier alert was released by Watchung Police, however, Warren Police are asking the public to refer to the information released by them.

“Any information distributed earlier by the Watchung Police Department may have been inaccurate and premature,” Warren Police said.

“Please communicate to your children the importance of not speaking to strangers and reporting any incidents of concern,” Warren Police said.
