American History at Princeton: Lectures, Seminars and Historic Visits

Watchung Hills history teachers were well represented at a Princeton University seminar this summer sponsored by the Teaching American Grant Program. Ken Karnass, Greg Krueger, Erin Hodge and Rustin Finelle all participated in a two-week program offered by Princeton’s James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. The seminars include daily lectures from well-known historians and university professors along with cultural programs focused on the antebellum, civil war and reconstruction eras. Seminar participants take trips to place the history they are discussing in context, visiting Burlington, N.J., New York City and various historic buildings on the Princeton campus (see accompanying photos).

The dedication of these history teachers who spend significant time during the summer expanding and developing their knowledge and teaching skills is greatly appreciated. They enhance students’ experience in their classrooms with renewed understanding, improved practice, and inspiring enthusiasm!
