Graphic Design Teacher & Artist Steve Speeney Has Show Opening at Kean University

Don't miss this exciting art opening of Watchung Hills' Steve Speeney's sculpture!

Steve Speeney, a graphic design teacher at Watchung Hills, creates amazing modular constructed sculptures which were the subject of a recent WHREA blog. We are back now with details of his solo show which is opening at the Nancy Dryfoos Gallery at Kean University on Tuesday, October 8th. The show will be up from October 8th until November 8th and there will be opening receptions with the artist on Thursday, October 11th from 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday, October 13th, again from 6 to 8 pm. The gallery’s regular hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We strongly encourage you to see Steve’s work “live” as it is only in this way that you can fully appreciate the intricacy of his designs and the amount of work that goes into each precisely constructed piece of wood or fired clay. These three-dimensional works of art cry out for the spectator to walk around them and interact with them so as to get a feel for the complex spatial relations they create. Please enjoy the accompanying photographs of his work – we hope they entice you to the show itself. We know that you will be well rewarded if you take the time to visit the Nancy Dryfoss Gallery on the Kean campus in the next month to appreciate Steve’s sculptures (curator – Josh Green). The gallery is located inside the Nancy Thompson Library (see campus map – building L) and parking is readily available.
