UPDATE: N.J. Shooter Kills Self, Two Others, In Hours-Long Police Standoff

An active shooter shot and killed a man and a woman. Officers were reportedly "pinned" during the standoff.

An “active shooter” shot and killed himself Sunday, ending an hours-long standoff with police after shooting and killing a man and woman, authorities said.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office reported that the standoff was over around 7:30 p.m.

“SWAT and law enforcement activities have been terminated. There is no threat to the community. Ongoing investigation, more info later tonight,” according to statement from the SCPO.

The shooter was barricaded in a Somerset County home for at least five hours after killing a man and a woman, according to the SCPO.

At least one police car was hit by the gunman’s bullets, but no officers had been injured as of 6 p.m., according to WNBC-TV in New York.

State police confirmed an ongoing incident in Mountain Boulevard in Warren, but provided no details, according to mycentraljersey.com.

A man identified as “John Reno” who was formerly “incarcerated” shot a brother and sister, with one person reported dead, according to the report.

The shooter was possibly using a “bolt action rifle,” according to a family member quoted in the report.

Police and a SWAT team responded to the residential area of the township, according to nj.com.
