Driver Slams Into Box Truck On I-78 In Warren, Hospitalized

A driver is in critical condition after her car crashed into the back of a truck while driving on I-78 in Warren on Wednesday night.

WARREN, NJ — A driver is in critical condition after her car crashed into the back of a truck while driving on I-78 in Warren on Wednesday night.

At about 6:30 p.m. a 66-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai sedan on the eastbound side near mile marker 35.9 when the car drifted onto the right shoulder, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele said.

The car then crashed into the rear of a box truck that was parked on the shoulder, Peele said.

The woman was seriously injured and remains in critical condition at the Morristown Medical Center, Peele said.

The driver of the box truck was uninjured.

As a result the right and center lanes were closed for about four hours. They have since been reopened. The cause is still under investigation.
