Temple Har Shalom Purim Carnival

Get ready for a Purim Carnival and celebration the likes of which our community has not seen!

What's a carnival doing in the middle of the winter?  The answer: Purim!

The holiday of Purim commemorates the survival of the Jewish people from a plot to exterminate all of the Jews of Persia.  King Ahashuerus of Persia's Prime Minister, Haman, has his plan foiled by Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai, who ultimately save the Jews of the land from destruction.  To celebrate their survival, Jews all over the world hold raucous retellings of the story and many have carnivals for children to dress in costume and enjoy the day!

Temple Har Shalom is having their Purim Carnival this Sunday, March 4 from 1:15 - 4:15 p.m.  Themed A Very Persian Purim, it will celebrate both the land in which the Purim story takes place as well as the youth of our own community.  The celebration is geared for those ages Pre-K to Grade 6 and will have something for everyone including: a 26-person Video Game Truck, Bouncey House, Inflatable Gladiator Joust, carnival games, fun booths, prizes, food and MANY surprises throughout the day!  The Carnival will also include a 50/50 Raffle (to provide a little Purim excitement for the adults)!

All proceeds from the raffle and the Carnival will go to support the Youth Programs and Scholarships at Har Shalom.  It is truly a Carnival FOR the youth By the youth to SUPPORT the youth!
