The educational experience is a lot different from what you remember. The curriculum is packed, expectations are greater, and the pressure to do well is higher. It has become increasingly more important for parents, teachers, and students to work together as a team in the learning process. Each member of the team has responsibility but sometimes it is difficult to know where your ownership begins and ends with the teacher as well as with your youngster. This presentation helps parents understand when and how much to be involved in their child’s education. An emphasis will be placed on problem solving when there is a conflict or learning issue occurring.
In Group Psychology, there is a concept called synergy. Synergy in groups occurs when the skills of the team members are pooled together so that the group functions beyond expectation or actual abilities. Developing synergy in the “Dream Team” of parents, students, and teachers can help tap into each team member’s strengths and pool their resources to help minimize the learning obstacles. Consistent with team building theory, there are four ways to develop this cohesive feeling.
