If elected, Ilana promises to be a strong advocate for every Warren resident and ensure that citizen input will be critical to all aspects of local government. “It is essential that all community members are represented in township decisions that impact everyone’s daily life. Communication between the Township Committee and local citizens needs more transparency, especially when decisions regarding parks, historical sites, and commercial property are being made.”

Ilana Goldstein-Barsky works as a product manager at a local area manufacturing company. She graduated from Montclair State University where she received the 2002 Mentor of the Year Award in recognition of her work with Middle School students in need of academic and emotional support.

Ilana is also a working mom who served on the Warren Township Board of Education for the 2018-2019 school year. She has lived in Warren Township for eleven years with her husband Michael and her son.

Ilana supports efforts to maintain high quality schools, thereby attracting new families, and secure property values. She advocates amending the current form of government where constituents would directly elect the mayor. Ilana is interested in creating transparent. sensibly managed development while maintaining Warren's rural charm. She feels strongly about preserving the history and rural beauty of the town. She will work with residents and historic preservation experts to identify buildings and sites in need of protection from development and demolition of beloved historic buildings.

Issues of racial and gender equality are motivating principles for Ilana. She is running to ensure that local government is accountable to all citizens, free from complacency and conflicts of interest. She has called for a township-wide discussion on race and bias. If elected, she will establish a Diversity Committee to ensure that Warren is a welcoming community where people of all races, sexual orientations, and religions feel at home.

Ilana Goldstein-Barsky will also work to improve the subpar customer service that JCP provides to the majority of Warren residents. She believes it is well past time for our elected leaders to demand better from the utility company’s poor customer service and communication.

Ilana is a passionate woman who stands by her beliefs, which is why the SCFDW is endorsing her for a seat on the Warren Township Committee.
