Four From Warren Tapped for All-State Orchestra

Two earn first-chair honors.

The New Jersey Music Educators Association annual all-state orchestra is to string musicians what the Meet of Champions is to athletes: a chance to be recognized as the best in your group.

And when the association held its auditions last week, four Warren Middle School students were picked for the honor: Lauren Kim, Catherine Chen, Phoebe Chen (not related) and Brian Zeng.

"In the 10 years I've been here, we've had a student go every year—but this is the first time we've had more than one," Warren Middle School Insrumental Music Teacher John Seramula said. "It's also the first time we've had a 'first-chair.'"

Two of the students—Lauren and Brian—were named first chairs in their respective instruments, sort of like winning the gold at the MOC.

"They did an awesome job," Seramula said.
