Hearing Set For 80-Unit Affordable Housing Project In Warren

WARREN, NJ — The public will have a chance to speak Friday on one of the final steps needed before a roughly 80-unit affordable housing development in Warren can move forward.

The special meeting at 5 p.m. Friday will address Ordinance 20-25 for the transfer of the 8-acre site located on Lindberg Avenue off Stirling Road from the township to Warren LIHTC Urban Renewal, LLC. It will be held in the Municipal Complex, Susie B. Boyce Meeting Room, 44 Mountain Blvd. in Warren.

"This ordinance dedicates the transfer, which is consistent with the redevelopment plan and was approved and adopted at the August meeting. This is one of the last steps in the process — the transfer of the property," said Warren Township Administrator Mark Krane.

This development, The Apartments At Warren, will help Warren satisfy a portion of the township's affordable housing obligation as it will serve working families, seniors and professionals earning incomes at or below 60 percent of the area median income. The Apartments At Warren will serve working families, seniors and professionals earning incomes at or below 60 percent of the area median income. It will consist of five three-story buildings and a clubhouse. There will be 13 one-bedroom units, 47 two-bedroom units, and 23 three-bedroom units, according to Lara Schwager, vice president of development for PIRHL Developers, LLC.

Construction is slated to begin in October and continue for 16 months, Schwager said.

The development is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2022, Schwager said.
