Fallen Tree Branch Damages Vehicle

Warren Township Police Department's daily activity reports for the week of Feb. 20.

Feb. 24

A fallen tree branch on Reinman Road was blamed for an accident at 8:29 a.m., after a vehicle driven by Karolina Malfi, 29, of Warren, was damaged when running over the branch. No injuries were reported.

Feb. 23

Scott Butler, 29, of Matawan, ws charged with DWI at 8:46 a.m after the vehicle he was driving in Mt. Bethel Road, near the Central School, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Saroja Malyala, 29, of Iselin. Butler was also charged with DWI in a  school zone,  reckless driving, careless driving, driving with an open container of alcohol, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle.

He was released after the charges were filed, pending an appearance in municipal court.

Salah Williams, 32, of Newark, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuna at 9:05 a.m. after a motor vehicle stop on Mt. Bethel Road.

At 9:37 a.m., an Emily Terrace resident reported an incident of identity theft. No additional details were released regarding the incident.

At about 3 p.m., two sewer backflow valves, valued at $750 each, were reported stolen from a Lara Place residence.

A Mountain Boulevard business reported a money order fraud in the amount of $2,600 at 3:31 p.m.

Feb. 22

Police responded ot a report of  hit-and-run accident at about 8 a.m., when a Charles Inge, 58, of Easton Pa., reported a vehicle struck the rear-view mirror on a vehicle he was driving on King George Road, near Katherine Drive.

Michael Mittleman, 20, of Watchung, was charged with careless driving after the vehicle he was driving on Mountain Boulevard hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Stuart Fine, 44, also of Watchung, near Bardy Road at 3:09 p.m. No injuries were reported in the accident.

Feb. 21

Gilberto Villa Llanos, 43, of Bernardsville, was charged with careless driving, failing to report and accident, driving with a valid license and leaving the scene of an accident at 2:51 a.m. after police investigated a report of an accident on Stirling Road.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Feb. 20

David Gazzo, 25, Berkeley Heights, was charged with improper passing at 2:23 p.m. after the vehicle he was driving on Mountain Avenue struck a vehicle driven by Peter Stoerger, 74, of Union.

No inuries were reported.

Feb. 19

Joseph Lausman, 35, of Louisville, Ky., was charged with possession of marijuana at 11:31 a.m., after the vehicle he was driving on Liberty Corner Road was stopped. He was released after the charge was filed.
