Mother Of Somerset County Boy Who Died From Fatal Punch Said 'He Didn't Suffer'

Jared Colon, 17, of Hillsborough died on Monday because injuries sustained from a punch during an argument with another teen this weekend.

“They tell me he didn’t suffer,” Beth Colon, the mother of the 17-year-old boy who died from a fatal punch said of her son’s last moments when she spoke with A BC Eyewitness News.

Not only has Colon decided to donate Jared’s organs so he can, “give life to others,” but Colon also told A BC Eyewitness News. that she will begin a fund to help children with anger issues, like the boy who killed her son.

According to a release from the Somerset County Prosector’s Office, Hillsborough first responders showed up to a call on Orchard Drive around 5 p.m. on Saturday and found Jared Colon, 17, suffering from a head injury.

He was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for medical treatment where he passed away three days later.

Colon’s injuries were sustained after he was punched in the head by 16-year-old “S.M” during a verbal argument, according to the release.

“S.M.” is currently lodged in the Middlesex County Juvenile Dention Center and has been charged with second degree Reckless Manslaughter.
