Pee Wees Fall Short Against Montgomery

The Watchung Hills Pee Wees faced a tough Montgomery team in the Mountain Valley Conference championship and lost 34-18, last Sunday.

Montgomery went up 21-0 in the 1st quarter after some great defensive and special teams play. The Wolverines scored their first TD in the 2nd quarter when Nick Ugarte scampered into the end zone from 12 yards out. Tyler Jelmert put pressure on the Montgomery offense the whole day and Tommy Schelling made some great tackles. Eric Plesko returned a kick 70 yards for the Wolverines second score. Ugarte took a pitch around the left corner for 65 yards for the Wolverines third and final score in the 4th quarter.

The Wolverines enter the Garden State Games next Sunday with the goal of bringing home a state title.

Jr. Pee Wee Defense Holds Bridgewater to Single TD

The Watchung Hills Junior Pee Wees hosted the Bridgewater Panthers for the Mountain Valley Conference championship game last night. Bridgewater held on to win, 8-0, in a game which turned out to be a defensive battle between the two powerhouse teams.

Watchung took the opening kick and drove 40 yards before fumbling on the Bridgewater 5 yard line. Bridgewater went four and out and turned the ball over to the Wolverines who again marched down the field, but was stopped. Chris Clintock, TJ Pecoraro, Jack Taub, Conner Cook, Andrew Reale and Joe Rica lead the offensive attack fueled by the big blocks of Anthony Tomaro, Mike Fornaro, George Rooks and David Damore.

The defense turned in another outstanding performance holding the Panthers to just one touchdown. Rob Saum led the defensive charge on the line with outstanding support from Chris Clintock, Jack Taub, Andrew Reale, Anthony DeNave, TJ Pecoraro, David Damore and Justin Uberio.

The Wolverines will be playing in the Garden State Games in two weeks.
