Power Not Expected Until Wednesday For Somerset County: JCP&L

9K Somerset County residents are still in the dark Friday night. JCP&L's estimated restoration is Wednesday while PSE&G says Saturday.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — More than 9,000 Somerset County residents are still in the dark as of Friday night at 9:15 p.m. And power is not expected to return for some until Wednesday at 11:30 p.m.

This is the third day without power for some since the snowstorm on Wednesday and a week for some since the first storm wreaked havoc on the area.

JCP&L is reporting 6,146 Somerset County customers do not have power as of 9:15 p.m. with the highest in Basking Ridge with 1,961 followed by Warren with 1,674.

An estimated restoration time for JCP&L customers is Wednesday at 11:30 p.m.

"JCP&L continues to work on restoring any customers that remain out of service from Winter Storm Riley first. These customers are expected to be back in service by 11:30 p.m. on March 10," said Ronald Morano, spokesman for JCP&L. "Customers that were affected by the second nor’easter, Quinn, in northern New Jersey are expected to be back in service by 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14."

"Overall, JCP&L has restored service to more than 385,000 customers. There has been significant damage to JCP&L’s infrastructure. Tens of thousands of trees have been damaged by the two storms. JCP&L’s work has included making conditions safe, opening roads and replacing thousands of spans of wire and 500 poles," Morano said.

There are currently more than 4,400 workers engaged in the restoration effort and JCP&L is bringing in crews in from as far away as Texas, Indiana and the Carolinas to assist.

PSE&G is reporting 2,865 Somerset County customers do not have power as of 7:15 a.m. with the highest in North Plainfield with 702 followed by Watchung with 676.

Projected restoration is Saturday at 11:45 p.m.
